Office needs differ from home needs in four ways:
Ventilation is the dominant office problem. Insist on an NDIR sensor with a published accuracy figure.
Printers, carpet and cleaning products produce PM2.5 and VOCs that CO₂ does not reveal.
Wi-Fi and a dashboard let one person watch every room and export data for the landlord.
Plug-in monitors log continuously; battery monitors can move between meeting rooms.
Under 800 ppm is comfortably ventilated. Most workplace guidance treats about 1,000 ppm as the point to increase fresh air, and readings above 1,500 ppm in a meeting room mean the ventilation cannot keep up with the people inside.
One per enclosed room that people occupy for more than an hour, plus one per open-plan zone served by the same air handler. Meeting rooms fill fastest and are the first place to monitor.
Offices with laser printers, new furniture or carpet, or that sit beside a busy road usually benefit. If the office is on a ground floor or has a basement, a radon reading is worth having too.
Monitors with Wi-Fi and a public API or smart-home integration can. The Airthings View Plus works with IFTTT and has an API; the GoveeLife H5140 links to Govee purifiers and to Alexa and Google routines.
At about 1 to 1.5 m height on an interior wall or shelf, away from doors, windows, supply vents and at least a meter from the nearest desk so breath does not inflate the reading.

For an office the View Plus earns the top spot because it covers the pollutants an office actually produces. Its NDIR CO₂ sensor (Airthings states a 400 to 5,000 ppm range) tracks ventilation, the PM2.5 sensor catches printer and outdoor particulates, and the VOC sensor flags cleaning products and off-gassing furniture. Radon, which most monitors ignore, matters in ground-floor and basement offices.
Wi-Fi is built in, so facilities staff can watch every room from the Airthings dashboard rather than walking around with a phone. Alerts and weekly reports go to email, and the API and integrations let a building system respond automatically. Six AA batteries last up to two years per Airthings, or it runs from USB-C.
The cycling e-ink display is the main compromise for a shared space, since a passer-by sees one reading at a time. PM2.5 and VOC readings from consumer sensors are best read as trends, and the radon figure takes about a week to settle.

The H5140 is the office logger. Because it is mains powered over USB, it samples every five seconds and keeps Wi-Fi on permanently, so the app builds a continuous record you can export as CSV for up to two years. That record is what you need to show a landlord or facilities team that the meeting room passes 1,500 ppm every afternoon.
The sensor is a Sensirion SCD4x, a photoacoustic NDIR module, with a stated accuracy of ±(40 ppm + 5%) and built-in pressure compensation. The screen shows CO₂, temperature, humidity and a tri-color light bar whose brightness follows a day and night schedule you set. Alerts come from a buzzer, the light bar and the app, and Alexa and Google Assistant can read the level aloud.
It needs a socket and it only measures CO₂ plus climate; there is no particulate or VOC channel. For a pure ventilation monitor with a permanent record, it is the most practical of the group.

The C1+ is the monitor to put on the meeting-room table. Its 3.3-inch LCD shows CO₂, temperature and humidity together in digits large enough to read from the far end of the table, and the color coding turns the number into a decision without anyone opening an app.
Temtop specifies a Sensirion CO₂ sensor, a 400 to 5,000 ppm range and an 800 mAh battery that lasts up to 70 days in ECO mode, so it can move from room to room without a cable. Bluetooth connects it to the Temtop app for history and firmware updates.
There is no Wi-Fi, so it cannot alert someone who is not in the room, and the app's history is shorter than Govee's. As a low-cost way to make a room's ventilation visible to the people in it, it does the job.
Short answer: for most offices buy one Airthings View Plus per zone if you want CO₂, particulates, VOCs and radon on one dashboard, or one GoveeLife H5140 per room if ventilation is the only question and you want a continuous exportable record. The Temtop C1+ is the low-cost way to make a meeting room’s air visible to the people in it.
A home has a few people and predictable sources. An office has dozens of people arriving at the same time, meeting rooms that go from empty to full in a minute, laser printers, carpet tiles, furniture, cleaning at night and an HVAC system that somebody else controls. The pollutants that matter are correspondingly wider: CO₂ as the measure of ventilation, PM2.5 from printers and outside air, and VOCs from materials and cleaning. Ground-floor and basement offices add radon.
CO₂ is still the first thing to measure because it tells you whether the ventilation system is delivering the fresh air the room needs for the people in it. A monitor with a true NDIR sensor and a published accuracy figure is the minimum; anything that estimates CO₂ from a VOC sensor will be confused by the hand sanitizer at reception. Plug-in monitors sample continuously and keep Wi-Fi on, which is what a facilities team needs for a long-term record. Battery monitors are for spaces without a convenient socket and for rooms you want to survey one at a time. Most offices end up with both: a plug-in logger in each meeting room and a battery monitor that travels.
An office monitor is only useful if its data can leave the device. Look for a dashboard that shows every room, CSV export for reports, and alerts by email rather than only by phone notification. The Airthings dashboard and the Govee app both export; the Aranet app exports 90 days from a phone.
PM2.5 sensors in consumer monitors are laser scattering sensors that count particles in a small air sample. They are good at showing change (the printer started, the window opened onto traffic) and less good at absolute values. VOC sensors respond to a broad mix of chemicals and report an index rather than a concentration. Both are worth having as trend indicators. A week of readings answers three questions: which rooms exceed 1,000 ppm and when, whether the HVAC schedule matches the occupancy pattern, and whether the night-time cleaning shows up as a VOC spike. Those three findings are what a landlord or building manager can act on.
Selection was based on manufacturer documentation (sensor type and module, stated range and accuracy, power specification, connectivity and export features), the datasheets of named sensor modules, and recurring patterns in verified owner feedback, particularly Wi-Fi reliability and app export.
