Verdict
The View Plus is the monitor to consider when you want radon and the everyday air quality measurements in one device and you want it on Wi-Fi. Seven measurements (radon, PM2.5, CO₂, VOCs, humidity, temperature and pressure), a configurable e-ink screen, battery or USB power and a mature app with a web dashboard cover most of what a household needs. The trade-offs are the price, the fact that a combination sensor is never the best at any single measurement, and the sampling rate on battery power, which is slower than on USB.

Sensor by Sensor
Radon
Airthings has built radon sensors for longer than any other consumer brand and the View Plus uses the same principle as its dedicated radon monitors. The important behaviour is that the value shown for the first days is provisional; the long-term average is the number that matters. That is a property of radon, not a weakness of this device.
PM2.5
The optical particle sensor reacts to cooking, candles, wildfire smoke and dust within a minute or two. It is the sensor that most often explains a sudden change in the app. Optical PM sensors estimate mass from particle counts, so readings between brands differ; treat the number as a trend indicator.
CO₂
The NDIR sensor gives a proper ventilation reading. Owners who compare it with a dedicated CO₂ monitor generally find it in the same range, with the View Plus lagging slightly because of its longer sampling interval on batteries. USB power shortens the interval.
VOCs
Total VOC sensors report a relative index rather than a concentration of any specific chemical. They are good at flagging cleaning products, new furniture and cooking, and poor at telling you what the compound is. Our article on what VOC sensors measure explains the limits.
Display, App and Dashboard
The e-ink display can be set to show the values you care about, and waving a hand in front of the unit shows a colour-coded summary. The Airthings app and the web dashboard hold the history, allow thresholds and notifications, and produce reports. When the View Plus is on USB power it also acts as a hub, bringing Bluetooth-only Airthings devices such as the Wave Mini online.
Strengths
- Radon plus the mainstream air quality sensors in one enclosure.
- Wi-Fi with a well-developed app and dashboard.
- Battery option gives placement freedom that most Wi-Fi monitors lack.
- Hub function extends the system.
Limitations
- Battery operation slows sampling; USB is better for CO₂ and PM responsiveness.
- VOC index is relative and cannot identify compounds.
- Price is high relative to single-purpose monitors.
How It Compares
The Airthings Wave Plus covers radon, CO₂ and VOCs on Bluetooth without a screen or PM sensor and costs less. The View Radon drops everything but radon, humidity and temperature. If you do not need radon, a Temtop or Qingping multi-sensor monitor provides CO₂ and PM2.5 with a colour screen at a lower price. See how to choose an indoor air quality monitor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the View Plus need to be plugged in?
No. It runs on six AA batteries, with battery life depending on how often the sensors sample. Plugged in over USB it samples more often and also acts as a hub for other Airthings Bluetooth devices.
Is the CO₂ sensor NDIR?
Airthings specifies an NDIR CO₂ sensor for the View Plus, which is the appropriate technology for a monitor used to judge ventilation.
How long until the radon reading is meaningful?
The app shows a short-term value fairly quickly, but Airthings and the radon guidance both treat the long-term average as the number to act on. Expect weeks before the long-term figure settles.
Does it show all seven readings on the screen?
The e-ink display can be configured to show a selection of values; the full set is in the app and web dashboard.
